The Big Draw acted as a generator for our preliminary design proposals.  The aim of the day was to take 'steal' inspiration from a range of precedents that would act as a basis for our design.   Initially I was proposing to work on the Newton Street site, however as soon as I began collaging & exploring the site's spatial qualities it became apparent that the site attached to the Stretford Public Hall was fair more appropriate for the programme I was aiming to achieve.

 

By using collage as a medium for communicating my ideas, I think there was a freeness & an openness to my thinking process as I was not as precious about what I was creating.  Through the splicing of different precedents, a range of programmatic possibilities were produced.
